INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS

 

 

Electronic manuscripts
Submissions to this journal should be presented in electronic form.

 

Types of Contributions
Research articles: not longer than 30 printed pages.
Short communications: shorter research notes, not longer than 2 printed pages.
Reviews: extended papers, generally longer than 40 printed pages, upon special agreement with the Editors.

 

Electronic format requirements for accepted articles
Manuscripts must be typewritten with a font size of 12 or 10 pt. Full postal addresses must be given for all co-authors. Please ensure that a fluent English speaker has revised the manuscript prior to submission to the Editors. The Editors reserve the right to adjust style to certain standards of uniformity. Authors should retain a copy of their manuscript since responsibility for damage or loss of papers cannot be accepted.

 

Structure of manuscript
Manuscripts should be arranged in the following sequence: Title, Authors, Affiliations, Abstract (no more than 200 words), Keywords (no more than 6, preferably from the ASFA database Thesaurus), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgements, Appendix, References, Figure Captions and then Tables. Do not import the Figures or Tables into your text. The corresponding author should be identified with an asterisk and footnote.

 

Figures
All illustrations should be provided in a form appropriate to possible need for reduction. Photographs, charts and diagrams are all to be referred to as Figure(s) and should be numbered consecutively in the order to which they are referred. Do not use any type of shading on computer-generated figures.



Photographs
Original photographs must be supplied as they are.

Originality
In their cover letters accompanying manuscript submission, authors will be expected to make an explicit statement indicating that the manuscript represents original work and presents results not previously published or under consideration for publication, and which will not be submitted for publication elsewhere while under consideration for Mediterranean Marine Science.


Proofs
Proofs will be sent to the corresponding author. Corrections should be restricted to typesetting errors. Any queries should be answered in full. Please note that authors are urged to check their proofs carefully before returning them, since the inclusion of late corrections cannot be guaranteed. Proofs are to be returned to the Editorial Office.  

Copyright
Upon acceptance of the article by the journal, the author(s) will be asked to transfer the copyright of the article to the publisher (HCMR). This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of information.

Papers for consideration and all correspondence concerning papers should be addressed to the Editorial Office of HCMR: publ@ath.hcmr.gr

Once a paper is accepted for publication in its final form and Transfer of Copyright has been signed, the ms will be accessible via the HCMR website as paper in press.
